The Casualty Office notifies next of kin of Active Duty members and furnishes assistance to the next-of-kin of Active duty members of the Army, as well as provides Casualty Assistance Officers to help the families of Active Duty Casualities in all matters from funeral details to monetary entitlements and life insurance payments. The office eliminates delays in settling monetary and allied benefits that are allowable to the next-of-kin, assists in other related military affairs and is responsible for making arrangements for military honors at funerals, including a firing squad and pall bearers, if requested and applicable.
